red tailed hawk in tree in sky

please click on this photo so you can see the two birds that were stalking mr. hawk

I owe a big thanks to my brother and twin nieces for this weeks skywatch post. sitting in their den they witnessed this hawk land in a tree in their front yard, "... then in a glorious flap of its wings the hawk soared to the backyard." my niece described quite a show where a nearby squirrel froze in fear while other smaller birds attacked the hawk from behind. after about three minutes, the hawk flew away, but not before swooping down giving a man driving by in a car cause for concern. if you'd like to see other more beautiful skywatch scenes from around the world, please go here, thanks to klaus & his team, sandy, ivar, wren, fishing guy & louise.

It sounds like all ended well, but the hawk certainly did stir up some trouble.

Great story, and a great picture, Lily. Look at those two, just waiting, daring that hawk to make some trouble.

Nice catch of a beautiful raptor. I've been seeing a hawk in our yard occasionally, but I never have the camera handy.

L'Union fait la force.
Two small birds can get ride of a smart hawk. It happens very often.

Great photo. Sometimes a sharp shinned hawk will perch in our yard and all the other birds leave.
