commuters
please click on the photo to enlarge for more detailseveryday thousands of people commute between long island and manhattan. some people drive, but the majority take the long island railroad. whenever I pick my husband up from the train station I notice all of the different type of people getting off the train. I imagine their different occupations by the way they dress. there are construction workers, office workers, students, etc. some people look like they have been commuting their whole life and are perfectly content, others look like they are very tired. how do you get to work?

For some years I commuted by trolley and then subway from suburbs to city.
Then for a year or so it was a train.
For the last 18 years of my working life, I lived 5 minutes from work, and did drive much of the time so the car would be available to go somewhere after work. BUT, I never drove the same way 2 days in a row. I liked to take the time to try different routes to see what my neighbors were planting in their gardens, and what else was going on around me.
