october pumpkins

this was the real reason I stopped at nurseryland yesterday. these pretty groupings of pumpkins on display kept catching my eye every time I drove by. I just had to stop and investigate. the great thing about using pumpkins to decorate for halloween is that they double as thanksgiving decorations as well.

Amazingly, I have seen NO PUMPKINS yet this year! And unusually few Halloween decorations. Is it still early? Am I looking too hard?? I've hardly seen potted mums on front steps. Maybe it's the economy? Maybe I need to get out more?

So I was happy to see YOUR pumpkins - all cheerful and orange!

One of the things I miss about Long Island, the pumpkin farms! Fab photo.

Love the bright orange color!

Funny that you mentioned the double duty of pumpkins. If they're not caved in or eaten by squirrels too badly, I just turn the carved side towards the house after Halloween!

Thanks Cutie!

Thanks Islipian. I definitely noticed the same thing. I think it is still early too. But I think you may be right about the economy. Nobody needs mums or pumpkins so that is the easiest thing to stop buying.

Lisa, they don't have pumpkin farms in GA?

Hi Luv, yep, that's what I do too!

it's that time of year again. How does time fly by so quickly, I have to wonder.

Today we went to Fairway and saw big bags of candy out for the taking, subliminally representing Halloween. It's nuts.

I like pumpkins. With apartment living though there's no place to leave one.

Fantastic photo. You have depicted very well the pumpkins with their bright colors.

Nothing is more symbolic of fall than pumpkins! Great photo of them!

Re the Princesses - if you click on the photo to enlarge it, the Sapphire Princess is left center and the Dawn Princess is right center.
Those are lovely pumpkins. They would be so perfect for home decorations.

Unfortunately, my coop does not allow decorations outside the apartment doors. I'm okay with that because I rather see zero decorations than awful decorations everywhere. :-)
