the original canterbury ales

please click on the photo to see the big spider up close.

my husband and I used to get fish and chips here before we were married. finding ourselves in huntington last weekend around dinner time we thought we might see if this place was still the same. I don't remember it being so noisy- I must be getting old! I also don't remember items on the menu like scotch egg. it is described as a hard boiled egg, wrapped in pork sausage, breaded and deep fried, served cold by tradition with hot mustard.
hmm... does that sound yummy to anyone?

Great atmosphere! It must have been a cosy restaurant.

It looks like a nice place to spend time. My husband and I had a similar one before we were married. Sadly, it is now a parking lot.

lily,
thanks for visiting my site. I liked this post . Great shot along the length of the pub. Funny how we remember things differently! Or did it actually just change?

Welcome Long Island to our chance to see your world. What a neat restaurant to start your show. That egg didn't sound too good to me.

Interesting and fun post. And not, that Scotch egg doesn't sound good at all to me!

It looks like a comfortable place.

I don't think I'd enjoy that scotch egg. Cold sausage doesn't appeal to me.

Good one! I have to say that I'd give the Scotch Egg a try. Then again - I try everything at least once. ;)
Cheers, Klaus

That's funny... there are a lot of things I don't seem to remember being anything near how they were when I was a young adult!

I Lo-o-o-o-v-v-e Huntington, been to Canterbury Ales many, many times. My favorite establishment used to be The Salty Dog, which was north of 25-A. The interior resembled the inside of an old seafaring wooden ship. Sadly, it too has gone the route of a Parking Lot. I'll have to dig up some pix.

Nice little eatery,it seems as we get older we lack the energy to shout above the crowd so we hear the din more.
Look forward to your next installment.

Nice restaurant you have there. The menu doesn´t sound like what I would prefer at all, but I guess that was the answer you were looking for.

Todays prize goes to Klaus. I think we would all agree that his enthusiasm to try the scotch egg exhibits extreme bravery and should be commended!
They also have Bison Burgers Klaus.
; )

Hi Ken Mac, this place is actually The Original Canterbury Ales. They are on New York Avenue in Huntington "on" Long Island.

Thanks for the wonderful trip around your place. So very much different from my place but I do wanna share my place also to you. Great job.
I've never heard of Scotch Eggs until this August when someone told me about it. It does sound delicious, albeit a wee bit on the heavy side.

I like the perspective you shot this at. The different colored lights set off an eerie glow.
