halloween is a pretty big holiday here on long island. people have been known to decorate their front lawns with giant blow up characters like the one shown above. some even string up orange or purple lights in their windows. mostly everyone gets a pumpkin or at least buys candy to give to the neighborhood children when they knock on their door for a trick or a treat. what is your favorite thing to do on halloween?

Plenty of giant blowups around here, too. The Jack-o-lantern is my favorite. When I was a kid, it was quite a production, laying aout newspaper, and Daddy getting the giant knife and giant spoon to cut and scoop, and deciding what kind of face to do this year.
When we first moved here about 12 years ago, I was surprised at how popular Halloween is on LI.
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I love carving the pumpkin(s) into something different each year. One year, I did Elmo and another year a pug. I tried a jester one year, but he got messed up and became a moon and stars. :-)
