Long Island Lighthouse at Montauk Point, NY
This photo was taken in the late Spring approximately 11 years ago. Unless I am mistaken, I think Ian was staring at a butterfly.
It is 137 steps to the top of the lighthouse, but oh so worth it. The view is spectacular. For me, the lighthouse at Montauk point is Long Island's ultimate landmark. Not only is it the oldest lighthouse in New York State, it was also authorized under one of the United States Founding Fathers Presidents, George Washington in 1792.

Your picture makes the anticipation even greater!
I'm tired just reading that.
But I do Love Lighthouses.
Bear((( )))
I remember that stage, where they got absolutely riveted by one small thing. Sweet!
I've never seen one but would love to.
Coffee is on.
Sweet little thought about the butterfly... I smiled when I read that.
Interesting little tidbit about the lighthouse... I have yet to see one in my life... not much need for them around the mountains.
Very nice post!
